On August 18, 2008, Gary Comer College Prep opened with its first class of freshmen. The campus currently serves 140 freshmen predominantly from Chicago's South Side. Each year, the school will add a new class of freshmen until it serves 570 students in grades 9-12. It is the vision of Gary Comer College Prep to develop well-rounded and successful college graduates.

To ensure that Gary Comer College Prep students graduate from college as well-rounded citizens, our students will master a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, develop the discipline necessary to succeed in their future professions, and begin to honor the greater community. We believe anything is possible with enough grit, zest and optimism.

Currently, our campus is housed inside of the Gary Comer Youth Center. However, construction will finish in August 2010 on our new academic facility adjacent to the youth center. Design images of the new building can be found here.
